Why study this program?
Physical education is the relationship between health, physical activity, and recreation. This major is an outstanding foundational degree for careers in health sciences or education. Specialized knowledge gained in this program includes: growth and structure of the human body, effective and efficient movement of the body, the edge between performance and injury, and critical engagement in historical trends and development. When you study physical education, you'll also look at sport and wellness to help encourage healthy living for all.
This major is taken as part of a Bachelor of Arts degree. Physical Education can also be taken as part of a Bachelor of Science degree.
Why study at the University of Alberta?
Augustana is a small campus located in Camrose, Alberta, just one hour southeast of Edmonton. This liberal arts and science campus is home to just over 1,000 students from across Canada and around the world. Augustana offers degree programs in an intimate and personalized setting, with an average class size of 22 people.
Each semester is comprised of a three-week session studying a single course, followed by a more traditional 11-week session studying up to four courses. This gives you the opportunity to dive deeper into research, travel, and other experiential learning endeavors, while at the same time reducing stress and workload.
